Recorded Future’s fourth annual Recorded Future User Network (RFUN) Conference took place in Washington, D.C. on October 7, 2015.
A recap is available on the Recorded Future blog, including highlights of Dan Geer’s keynote:
As keynote, Dan Geer, CISO at In-Q-Tel explained, intelligence “is a daunting topic.”
“Intelligence” isn’t people. It isn’t processes. It isn’t technology. It is, however, a combination of all those things. Pulling it all together is the difficult part.
Sometimes when facing a difficult task, it’s best to start with the goal – what are we trying to do? Geer put it best in his talk, “… intelligence is that which enables decision making and, in turn, which improves outcomes.” The goal of threat intelligence, therefore, is to enable better decision making. As an industry, we need more and improved ways to quickly find out about emerging threats and the adversaries behind those threats.
