CRE Petitions FTC to Set Rules for Web-Based Services

In an effort to curb unfair practices associated with free web based services, the Center for Regulatory Effectiveness (CRE), a federal regulatory body, recently petitioned the Federal Trade Commission to initiate a public process establishing a “trade regulation” for web-based services.

The petition requires FTC to make rules for clearly defining acts or practices which they consider unacceptable, CRE officials elaborated in apress release.

The CRE petition is especially relevant in the context of dramatic growth of American web based companies such as Google ,Facebook and Twitter, which have a number of traits in common.
